The government of Nepal has allowed trekking in Tsum Valley since 2008. It is a restricted area and requires a restricted area permit for trekking. There was an open border between Tibet and Tsum Valley before the Pandamic COVID 19. The local people used to get their goods easily from Tibet, but the inflow of citizens between Tibet and Tsum Valley, Nepal, was almost closed after the pandemic. The valley is bound by Buddhism, which protects nature and its entities with its strict rules. Killing animals and firing is strictly prohibited to protect nature. One should pay RS 50,000 in fines if he/she knowingly sets fire to the forest of Tsum Valley. The wheat is the annual crop, and the rotation of cropping occurs after three years. Farmers sow buckwheat and mustard, replacing wheat in each three-year gap. There is a unique system for harvesting buckwheat during the night. We can visualize Ghoral and Jharal on the difficult mountainscape.

best time to Trek Tsum Valley

Spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, and November) are the best seasons to trek Tsum Valley. March, April, May, September, October and November are the best months for trekking in Tsum valley due to moderate temperature and pleasant weather. The temperature remains moderate and we can go trekking easily during these months.

Winter (December, January, and February) remains very cold, with heavy snowfall, on which trekking would be difficult. Similarly, summer season (June, July, and August) is not considered the best season due to heavy rain. The walking trial remains wet and sleepy due to rain. Therefore, autumn and spring are the best seasons, whereas we cannot trek easily during summer and winter in Tsum Valley.
