Oldest monastery

The Pangboche monastery is the oldest monastery at an altitude of 3985 m above sea level. It is historical monument of 16th century. It is a landmark reflecting past history of Khumbu region.

Highest settlement

Pangboche village elevation is 3985 m above sea level. It is one of the highest settlement in Khumbu region that remains working throughout the year. The tea houses in Pangboche provides best accommodation for trekking and climber trek in heading from Namche or Tengboche. 

Yeti scalp and hand

The presence of Yeti scalp and hand in Pangboche Monastery has given different identity for Pangboche. Most of trekkers wants to view the Yeti scalp while the Yeti hand was stolen in 1990 AD. The mysterious yeti scalp one the attraction of this village.

Gateway to Ama Dablam 

Pangboche is the gateway to Ama Dablam base camp. It is the last settlement before reaching the Ama Dablam base camp. The climber and expedition team collect their equipment in Pangboche.

Pangboche weather remains pleasant in the months of March, April, May, September, October and November. The cloudy weather in monsoon and foggy weather in winter doesnot support the mountain view from Pangboche. 

How to reach Pangboche?

We can reach Pangboche by trekking from Lukla or helicopter tour from Lukla. It takes four days to reach Pangboche from Lukla.

Are there medical facilities in Pangboche?

Yes, there are medical facilities in Pangboche. We can get basic medical services in old clinic and some tea houses of the village. We cannot expect medicals with full services in the village due to its elevation.
