Overview

The Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek covers regular hidden destination situated at the far western district of Nepal in less permit fee/cost. The Ringmo Village of remote Dolpo district offers an amazing Nepalese culture including wonderful  Himalayan range, Phoksundo Lake and the snowy peak of Kanjiroba. One of a kind social decent variety in the remoteness of the Himalayas joined with a brilliant view of blue lakes and mountains are the primary highlights of Lower Dolpo Region.

Lower Dolpo area lies further north from the Dhaulagiri Range in the sprinkle shadow of the Himalayas – reflected in the splendid infertile grades of the. In summer, the convoys of yaks and sheep go through this valley on an exchange course through the Himalayas and trade the products and thoughts between the Tibetan Plateau and the valleys of Nepal.

The Lower Dolpo Circuit Trek begins after flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj to Juphal. From Juphal we follow the Tarap Chu River passing through Tarakot, Laini, Nawarpani and to Do Tarap where we acclimatize for a day. The trail goes through some terraced fields at the beginning, deep gorges, suspension bridges, pine trees and higher up we find Juniper bushes, wild roses, and classic dry Himalayan valleys. Do Tarap is a small village inhabited by Bon Po and Chaliba tribes, few Tibetans and Magars.

We can visit some famous local monasteries and enjoy the scenic view of peaks and know about local culture, customs, and traditions. Then we ascend to cross Numa La pass which offers an amazing view of barren mountains of Dolpo to Dhaulagiri. After crossing Baga La pass where you can have beautiful views of surrounding landscapes and snowcapped peaks of Kanjirowa range we descend to Ringmo and hike to Phoksundo Lake. Full of crystal deep blue freshwater, Phoksundo Lake is a gem of this region. Finally, we descend to the Juphal airstrip to end our journey of a lifetime.

This trek takes you to the Shey-Phoksundo National Park (largest in Nepal)- home to blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, elusive snow leopards along with varieties of fauna. You will walk on primary trade routes still in use between Tibet and Nepal. People here have still a basic lifestyle and friendly nature like other trekking of Nepal.

This trek has some high passes so we recommend to you that you must have a previous trekking experience as well as physical fitness.
