Mohare Danda Trek Itinerary

To start the Mohare danda trek we will drive towards Beni for 3.5 hours and then to Galeshwor for 15 minutes. The Mohare danda trekking route begins from Galeshwor temple. We will visit the Jyotirlinghiswor Mahadev temple famous as Ghaleshwor Dham and cross the Kaligandaki River through a suspension bridge. Following the forest path, farmhouses, and Magar village we will reach Bans Kharka (1526m) after 3 hours of walk. The orange orchard, terrace farming, and natural beauty of the Magar settlement are amazing to view in Banskharka.

Note: If we are in Kathmandu then we will drive to Pokhara on the first day and drive to Galeshwor on the second day then start the trekking towards Banskharka.

We will continue the Mohare danda trekking trial after having local breakfast in Bans Kharka. The uphill trial until three hours takes you to a small village named Danda Kateri. The wonderful view of terrace farming, Kaligandaki valley, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri landscape makes us to take rest and capture the moments in your gadget. We will have lunch and continue towards Nadi village, the destination of second day trek in Mohare Danda trekking.

Nadi village is one of the developed village in Nepal. We can see modernized educational institution, handmade paper industry using Local plant Lokta, medicinal plant nursery and small scale industries in this Himalayan village. We will reach Mohare danda after around 6 hours of walk in Nadi village to the Mohare danda trekking route. After having breakfast we will start our journey towards Mohare hill. The rhododendron forest path, patches of bamboo, oak trees passes away and gives amazing view of central Himalaya range. The glow of Mardi himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna south, Nil Giri and Dhaulagiri makes your trekking trial more brighter. You will enjoy the Himalayan view from pasture land on the hill top of Mohare danda. The community eco lodge, the wireless internet relay station, sunrise and sunset view from the hill is best part of Mohare danda.

We will wake up early in the morning to view the sunrise from Mohare danda and capture the moment with a mountainous view. Following the ridge path and enjoying the mountain ranges of the Annapurna region in the surrounding, we will trek down to Tilkot. The last day of the Mahore danda trek takes you to Tipling village. We will leave Tilkot after having breakfast and walk towards the Kaligandaki river bank. We will pass Beni bazaar and reach Pokhara after 4 hours of driving in Baglung highway.

Mohare danda trek is 5 days trek from Pokhara. The Mohare danda is the last destination to get fabulous view of Annapurna landscape. Best time to visit Mohare danda

Similarly, in lunch you will get nepali thali containing rice, lentils, curry, pappad and pickles, momo, noodles, spaghetti, macroni, porridge and local food in lunch and dinner.

Drinking water

You can get both hot water and mineral water on Mohare danda trekking route. Tea houses will provide the hot water and you have to pay extra for it.

Internet and network is available throughout the trek. You can buy data card and use internet.  

For network, you should buy sim card either from Nepal telecom or N cell and recharge it as your requirements.

Difficulty in Mohare danda trek

Mohare danda trekking is moderate trek in Annapurna region. You will explore magar community in Annapurna region following easy trial. You can easily complete the trek even if you are beginner.

General clothing is recommended

  • Warm jacket-down jacket,
  • Water and windproof jacket (alternatively, bring a poncho or umbrella)
  • Long sleeved synthetic fleece (windproof material, if possible)
  • Thermal underwear.
  • Hat, a pair of gloves and a scarf.
  • Comfortable hiking trousers. (loose fitting)
  • Shorts and trousers, or a skirt.
  • 2 pairs of warm wool-blend socks.
  • 2 pairs of running socks or liner socks.
  • Proper hiking boots.
  • Running shoes and flip-flops.
  • 2-3 T-shirts.
  • Water bottle.

Altitude Sickness

This is a kind of illness that is caused by ascent to high altitudes. The symptoms will occur within 6 to 24 hours of achieving a high altitude. Altitude sickness is fatal and can result in death if not treated in time. You need to stay alert to any of the symptoms that occur.

An effective measure to recover from early AMS

If you happen to notice any of the symptoms, follow the guideline mentioned below-

  • Do not climb any higher for the next 48 hours
  • Descend to a lower altitude if possible
  • Take complete rest until you feel well
  • Do not exercise
  • Do not smoke
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take external oxygen supply if necessary
  • Take anti-sickness medicines

If you see no improvement in your health within 48 hours, you will have to be immediately deported to the city for medical support.

Preventive Measures

There is no way to train your body prior to trekking so as to adapt to the high altitude. Some ways in which you can prevent it are as follows:

  • Take plenty of rest
  • Ascend slowly and gradually as you reach higher
  • keep yourself hydrated
  • Eat high-calorie food
  • Do not smoke, drink or consume tranquilizing medicines

Insurance

During times of emergencies like acute altitude sickness or a natural calamity, you might have to be immediately deported in a helicopter. The cost of such deportation is covered by health insurance that needs to be purchased before you start the trek.
