Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Drive to Nayapul and trek to Ghanduruk (2012m)-06 hrs

On the first day of trekking we will drive to Nayapul, a beautiful village located near to Prithivi Highway. The beauty of Annapurna region begins as we start our walk from Nayapul towards Ghandruk (2021m) – traditional Gurung village.
The trekking trial towards Ghandruk is easy, you will enjoy the serene beauty of forest, flowing stream on the lap of Mt Machhapuchhre, As we reach Ghandruk we can view amazing beauty of Annapurna south, Himchuli and Machhapuchhre. The traditional houses, Gurung culture, the hospitality of people in the village Ghandruk increase our excitement of trekking.
Night stay: Good tea house with attached bathroom

Day 2
Trek to Sinuwa 2340 m-5 hrs.

After having breakfast we will check out from the teahouse and start our journey towards Sinuwa. The uphills with stone stairs, green surrounding, and heavenly beauty of Mount Annapurna south, Himchuli, and Machhapuchhre make our day wonderful. The trial from Ghandruk to Sinuwa is also an easy trial. We will walk through small villages, interact with people. Enjoy the view of domesticated animals walking on the road and raring on pasture, crossing the suspension bridge over Kinrong Khola we will reach Chhomrong – a beautiful village on Annapurna region.
Passing suspension bridge uphills and downhills we will reach Sinuwa – Gurung village with the attractive surrounding.
Night stay: Normal guest house.

Day 3
Trek to Deurali 3230 m-7 hrs.

Today you should walk longer path than previous day. We will walk towards Deurali after having breakfast. Seven hours of walk enjoying with the scenery of Annapurna region proceed in Deurali. Deurali is wonderful village reflecting Himalayan lifesyle. We will have night stay in Deurali which is the last night before reaching Annapurna base Camp.

Day 4
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130m – 04 hrs.

The special day of Annapurna base camp trek on which we will reach our destination. We will wake up be fresh and have our breakfast in Deurali then start our walk. After four hours of walk we will reach Annapurna base camp (4130). The marvelous beauty of snowy Annapurna range surrounds you. We will get a 360 degree view from Hiunchuli, past Annapurna South to Annapurna I (8,097m/26,566ft) and Khangsar Kang, , Annapurna III and Machhapuchhare.
A new experience creates life time memory on the mean day. We will stay in teahouse of Annapurna base Camp. Take photographs and capture the moment for immemorial history.

Day 5
Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hrs.

Ninth day is the first day of returning back. We will leave our foot prints on Annapurna base camp and move ahead toward Bamboo after having breakfast. Walking around six hours makes us to stand on Bamboo (2050m). We will take rest, have dinner and spend our night on tea house of Bamboo.

Day 6
Trek to Jhinu-Danda 1,700m via Chomrong – 06 hrs.

We will move towards Jhinu – Danda (1700m) from Bamboo after having breakfast. It takes six hours to reach Jhinu- Danda via Chomrong. We will cross the Valley of Modi River, rhododendron forest, dense bamboo and oak trees. We will stay in Jhinu – Danda, have dinner and sleep.

Day 7
Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara-8 hrs.

Today is the last day of trek. We will pack our bag, have breakfast and start our walk. Around 6. 5 or 7 hours of walk on downhill let us in Nayapul. From Nayapul we will take private taxi and drive towards Pokhara. We will check into hotel of Pokhara take rest, have dinner and sleep.

Short Annapurna base camp (ABC) trek

Short Annapurna base camp trek is one of the best trek of the Annapurna region focusing on trekkers’ wishes of reaching ABC in a short time period. The walk begins from Nayapul and ends in Nayapul. You will spend six nights and 7 days in the Annapurna region. While comparing with the Annapurna base camp trek, this trek is short because we start the trek from Pokhara and skip Poonhill trekking to complete the trek on the relevant day.

Accommodation

We will provide the best tea houses having clean rooms with twin beds or dorm rooms with 4-6 beds. Luxury hotels are not available in Annapurna region thus you will only get tea houses for accommodation.

Food

We will provide three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our package. The available food items include tea, milk, coffee, chapatti, cereals, sandwiches, porridge, spaghetti, potato, egg items, fruits, and vegetables for breakfast. Nepali thali (dal, rice, curry, pickle, papad, and salad), Tibetan bread, sandwiches, mo: mo, macaroni dishes, noodles, thukpa, potato curry, rice pudding, apple pie, pizza in lunch and dinner. You can choose food from the menu depending on the travelers group.

Best time for short Annapurna base camp trek

The month of March-May (spring season) and September – November (autumn season) is the best time for Short Annapurna base camp. The weather and path of Annapurna base camp remain suitable in Pre-monsoon and before the winter season.

Charging gadgets

A charging facility is available throughout the trek but you should pay separately for charging each gadget. Most of the tea houses prefer charging in the dining hall rather than in a room.

Drinking water

You will get safe and pure drinking water. We suggest using hot water for protection against cold. Drink enough water to hydrate the body and be safe from dehydration.

General Clothing recommended

  • Warm jacket – down jacket,
  • Water and windproof jacket (alternatively bring a poncho or umbrella)
  • Long-sleeved synthetic fleece (windproof material, if possible)
  • Thermal underwear.
  • Hat, a pair of gloves and a scarf.
  • Comfortable hiking trousers. (loose fitting)
  • Shorts and trousers, or a skirt.
  • 2 pairs of warm wool-blend socks.
  • 2 pairs of running socks or liner socks.
  • Proper hiking boots.
  • Running shoes and flip-flops.
  • 2-3 T-shirts.
  • Water bottle.

Altitude Sickness

This is a kind of illness that is caused by ascent to high altitudes. The symptoms will occur within 6 to 24 hours of achieving a high altitude. Altitude sickness is fatal and can result in death if not treated in time. You need to stay alert to any of the symptoms that occur.

  • Loss of appetite
  • Upset stomach
  • Feeling unsteady
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increased heart rate
  • Difficulty sleeping

An effective measure to recover from early AMS

If you happen to notice any of the symptoms, follow the guideline mentioned below-

  • Do not climb any higher for the next 48 hours
  • Descend to a lower altitude if possible
  • Take complete rest until you feel well
  • Do not exercise
  • Do not smoke
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take external oxygen supply if necessary
  • Take anti-sickness medicines

If you see no improvement in your health within 48 hours, you will have to be immediately deported to the city for medical support.

Preventive Measures

There is no way to train your body prior to trekking so as to adapt to the high altitude. Some ways in which you can prevent it are as follows:

  • Take plenty of rest
  • Ascend slowly and gradually as you reach higher
  • keep yourself hydrated
  • Eat high-calorie food
  • Do not smoke, drink or consume tranquilizing medicines

Insurance

During times of emergencies like acute altitude sickness or a natural calamity, you might have to be immediately deported in a helicopter. The cost of such deportation is covered by health insurance that needs to be purchased before you start the trek.
