Best time to climb peak 

Climbing peaks is risky if we do not choose the right time. The best time to climb Mera Peak is spring and autumn. The months of March, April, May, September, October, and November are the selective months for trekking and expeditions in Nepal. The pleasant weather and moderate temperature during these months are favorable for trekking and climbing.

March

March is the first month of the spring season. Early March remains relatively colder and snowier as compared to late March and April. The temperature fluctuates and falls to -30 degrees Celsius at the summit of Mera Peak. Mera Peak base camp temperature varies from –10 to – 25 degrees Celsius based on the condition of cloud and sun. 

We can enjoy the mind-blowing view of blooming rhododendron on the trekking route to Mera peak base camp during spring. Lukla flights will be accessible from Kathmandu in early March due to low traffic.

April

April is the best month of spring for Mera Peak climbing and trekking. The clear sky and moderate temperature in April are the best part to explore the mountains of the Everest region. The temperature ranges from 12 to -30 degrees Celsius from Lukla to Mera peak summit. There will be least chance of rain fall in April. We can also enjoy the floral and faunal diversity of the Everest region.

May

May is the last month of spring and the best time to climb Mera Peak. Late May is not suitable for trekking and climbing due to the pre-monsoon in Nepal. The moderate temperature and pleasant weather in May are favorable for peak climbing and enjoying the mountain view. 

Autumn season

After May, the monsoon rain and cloudy weather remain pronounced in Nepal. Therefore, autumn is the best season that comes after summer in Nepal. As the fall welcome festivals and fruiting in Nepal, it will be brilliant for trekking and expeditions.

September

September is the first month of autumn. Early September is relatively unsuitable for trekking due to the post-monsoon. Therefore, we should plan the Mera Peak climbing from mid-September or the last week to avoid the rainfall in the trekking site.

October

October is the best month for climbing Mera Peak. The clear view of the mountain and good weather conditions in October attract millions of trekkers in Nepal. The temperature ranges from 10 to -25℃ from Lukla to Mera Peak summit.

November

November is the last month of autumn. The temperature begins to fall from mid-November. Therefore, we should not plan our trek and expedition in late November. The temperature ranges from 6 to -30℃ throughout the trekking route. It is the best duration for exploring the Everest region.

Is climbing Mera Peak possible in winter? 

Yes, it is possible to climb Mera Peak in winter, but the lowest temperature and heavy snow will be challenging to reach the summit. Climbing in winter can be fruitful for experienced trekkers rather than beginners.
