Langtang Valley Trek is an ideal trek on the amazing landscape of Langtang National Park. It is the best option for beginners due to its low elevation and lower risk of altitude sickness. The ethnic culture, diverse biota, Himalaya, and totally peaceful environment nearby the Kathmandu valley is mesmerizing to enjoy throughout the trek.

Langtang Valley is an adjoining valley of Kathmandu. It is chosen as a trekking destination because of its beautiful appearance decorated by rhododendron forest with the richest biodiversity, terraced landscape, bamboo, timberlands, rivers, and rivulets. Besides this, the amazing view of Langtang Himal, Sherpa culture, Gurung and Tamang communities, the ethnic people, and their hospitality attract everyone.

Trekking to Langtang Valley is a short and moderate trek, giving you both the pleasure and experience of the Himalayan trek. The greenery below the snowy White Mountain and the brightness of a variety of rhododendron, high alpine meadows, pastures, and villages are major parts of this trek.

Starting the trek from Syabru Besi (1460 m), you will reach lama hotel, Langtang Valley, Kyanjin Gompa, and return the same route. You will not only view the beauty of the valley but also gain knowledge and experience of remote life, adapted change due to natural disasters (Earthquake of 2015), and the culture and revolution in people after this trek.

Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary

After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, our company member will welcome you and drop you off at the hotel. In the evening, you will have a welcome dinner in the cultural restaurant. We will also meet with your guide and have a description of the trip. 

After having breakfast, we will start the Kathmandu day tour. You will visit the best places in Kathmandu, which are famous for both cultural and historical importance. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, and Swyambunath are chosen for sightseeing in Kathmandu. In case we get extra time, we will also visit Thamel Bazar and do shopping after finishing the tour. 

After having breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and start our journey towards Syabru Besi. It will take around 8 hours to reach Syabru Besi. Enjoying the view of a street market, cities – Trishuli and Dhunche, amazing landscapes, rivers, and mountains we will reach SyabruBesi - the gateway of Langtang trek.
 

The trek begins on the fourth day of your arrival in Nepal. The place, far from a crowded city, adds enthusiasm at the beginning of the trek. We will walk through oak and rhododendron forests and enjoy the view of the subtropical forest and its diverse plants and animals. 

After stepping on the downhills and uphills of the Langtang region, we will reach the Lama Hotel after around 6 hours of walking. Lama Hotel is a small village with comfortable teahouses for overnight stays.

Our walk begins after having breakfast at the Lama Hotel. Starting our climb towards the forest we will reach Ghodatabela (3390m) - the small valley once used to have Tibetan settlements but now we can only only see Nepal Army posts. 

 The mesmerizing view of Langtang Lirung, the dense forest of Langtang National Park follows throughout the trial. The more we climb up, we can see the wider valley, pastureland, and nomadic sheds for livestock during the summer. Yak, monkey, langur, and varieties of rhododendron are major biota you will enjoy in your trekking trial. 

After around 6 hours of walking, we will reach Langtang Valley. The reconstructed valley after the devastating earthquake in 2015, in Nepal has lost historical infrastructure that carries its originality. We can see new construction and life struggling with available resources. Some of the remaining old houses show an imaginary view of what the valley used to have before the earthquake.

After having breakfast, we will start our walk towards Kyanjin Gompa (3880 m). After around half an hour of walking, we will reach a small settlement named Mundu with historical houses. The old houses, ethnic Tamang community give an amazing glimpse of local life in Langtang Valley.

Continuing the walk from Mundu, we will climb uphill, pass the pasture, several streams, and moraines, and reach Kyanjin Gompa. We will visit the small monastery, the cheese factory, and have a rest in Kyangjin Gompa.

Starting the walk very early in the morning, we will climb Kyanjin Ri to view the sunrise. After enjoying the panoramic view of Langtang Peak, ice faces, glaciers, monasteries, and downslopes, we will spend around an hour on Kyanjin Ri and return to Kyanjin Gompa. After having breakfast in Kyanjin Gompa, we will descend down to Ghoda Tabela. 

After having breakfast, we will head towards Bamboo. Passing the forest, valleys, and Lama Hotel along the downhills, we will reach the resting zone, bamboo, after around 4 hours. 

After having breakfast, we will descend down to Syabru Besi within 4 hours. As we reach Syabru Besi, we will take a private car and drive back to Kathmandu. It takes around 6 hours to reach Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, we will check into the hotel and take a rest. 

Depending on your flight we will drop you at the airport.  The wonderful trek to Langtang valley will be a lifetime memory in your mind, captured photographs, and videos.

Langtang valley trek is moderate trek in north of Kathmandu valley. The trekking route is long but it is not difficult to complete the trek. It is important to prepare for trek to make complete it. The highest elevation of the trek is 4850m (Kyanjii) where you will reach with acclimatizing in different places (Lama Hotel, Langtang valley, Kyanjin Gumba, Kyanjin-ri).

Langtang trek in Nepal can be prepared by doing regular exercise and jogging before two months of your trek. You should be physically and mentally healthy to prevent from altitude sickness.

Langtang valley trek is 10 days trekking in the north of Kathmandu for all trekkers, including beginners. The best time for Langtang valley

Autumn and spring are the best season for best view in Langtang valley. The pleasant weather gives clear view of Langtang range during these seasons. The blooming 25 different rhododendron species in March, April and May decorates Langtang National park. Moderate temperature, greenery and shiny Langtang Lirung during September October and November are best for trekking.

Difficulty

Langtang Valley trek distance covers around 80 km of trekking route up to 4950 m at the highest elevation, Tsergo Ri. It is a moderate trek, but you should walk long distances as compared to an easy trek. If you are a beginner, you should train to be mentally and physically fit and practice walking long distances.

Accommodation

Comfortable accommodation will be available throughout the trek. Tea houses will be provided with clean rooms. As you go to higher elevations, bathrooms will be available outside the room.

Meal

In this package, we provide three meals per day.

Breakfast food items include porridge, bread, coffee, tea or milk, and eggs. For lunch and dinner, Nepali thali rice, dal curry, and pickle papad are available as the most common and healthier foods. You can also get Mo Mo, Chhowmin, and Thukpa as food items for lunch and dinner.

Preparation for Langtang trek

Since you have to walk long distances in a Langtang trek, you should do regular jogging before 2 months of trekking. You should do regular physical exercises to make your body flexible and walk easily in the mountains. You should do a medical checkup to determine your internal health condition.
