Beginner of Manaslu expedition

First person to reach on the summit of Mt. Manaslu was Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of Japanese expedition. They climbed Manaslu May 9 2056, before 66 year from 2022. Since first successful climb on Manaslu was done by Japanaese expedition, this mountain is also called as Japanese mountain.

Itinerary

Manaslu expedition itinerary covers 49 days starting from Kathmandu and back to Kathmandu. 

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

After your arrival on Kathmandu airport, our company member will welcome and drop you to Hotel. In the evening you will have welcome dinner with company members in cultural restaurant.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu and preparation

Kathmandu day tour occurs in the second day. You will visit Pashupatinath, Shyambhunath, Bouddha and Kathmandu durbar square and taste famous food of Kathmandu.

Day 03: Preparation of trek

On preparation day climbers will give briefing about expedition. Company will check your documentation, visa application and you will arrange all the required documents. You can do your shopping and take rest.

Day 04: Drive to Machhi Khola 7-8 hours

Entire team will drive from Kathmandu to Machhi Khola. We will stop in Kurintar for having Lunch. In the evening we will rest in hotel.

Day 05: Machhi Khola to jagat 6 hrs.

Trekking begins with crossing Machhikhola and ascend to Almare. You will pass Khlola beshi, wot spring, walk through forest, viewing white watered Buddigandaki along the downstream.  Passing police checkpost you will reach Jagat.

Day 06: Jagat to Dyang, 7 hours

After having breakfast in Jagat you will start your trek towards  Dyang.  Passing different beautiful places named as Salleri, Paimo, Sirdibas, Philim, Eklabhatti, Nyak villages, you will reach Deng village. Panaromic view of central Himalaya you will forget your tiredness.

Day 07: Dyang to namrung 6-7 hours

After having breakfast in Dyang we well ascend to Namrung. Enjoying the view of forest, Budi Gandaki River in low land and glimpse of Mountain in highland, you will reach Namrung.

Day 08: Namrung to Samagau

Ascending uphills from Namrung you will enjoy amazing view of Mount Ganesh Himal, Himchuli on Horizon. Passing Lihi village, different passes and Shayla village you will reach Samagau.

Day 09: Rest Day at Sama gau

To acclimatize your body with changing atmospheric pressure and oxygen level, you will rest in Samagau. During the day you can visit nearby places and Birendra lake.

Day 10: Sama gau to Manasalu base camp

Manaslu base camp altitude , 4800m will be  gained in the 10th day of your trip. You will ascend from Samagau towards Manaslu Base camp. Around 5 hours of walk, you will reach on the base of Mount Manaslu, the amazing view of Manaslu and your awaited destination of expedition stands in front of you. 

Day 11 – 41: Acclimatization and Summit Time

Expedition period lies  between 11 days to 41 days. Climbing and resting period after 11 days will be determined by expedition leader. Preparation of climbing,  using rope and ice axe, organizing food will be done on base camp. You will spend 2, 3 days in basecamp to acclimatize your body and get last minute trainning. You will climb camp 1, camp 2, camp 3 and camp 4 before reaching the summit. Continuous climbing does not occur. You will climb to different camps and return back to base camp or lower elevation for acclimatization. You will attempt the summit during early morning to view sunrise from 8163m. Generally expedition from camp 4 occurs during midnight to reach summit in early morning. You will return to base camp according to guidance of leader and favorable weather.

Depending on the weather condition, the expedition time may extend or decrease.

Day 42: Back to Samagaun (3500m) from Base Camp,  4 hrs

You will leave basecamp and descend down to Samagaun. It takes around four hours to reach Samagaun through forest, small villages and amazing landscape of Manaslu region.

Day 43: Celebration Day of Manaslu Expedition

We will have rest day in Sama gaon as celebration day of victory – reaching to summit of Mount Makalu. Stepping on eight thousanders is definitely a great job one can do in their life. You will spend time on sharing experience and enjoying with the team.

Day 44: Back to Namrung , 5-6 hrs

After having breakfast you will descend down to another beautiful village, Namrung. You can enjoy Mountain View, Budigandaki and amazing terraces of Gorkha district Nepal.

Day 45: Namrung to Phillim, 4,5 hrs

Day by day you will descend down to lower elevation. You will reach Phillim village from Namrung. The Gurung culture and traditional houses adds beauty to the place.

Day 46: Machhi khola

The last destination of Gorkha district is Machhi Khola. Trekking and expedition period comes to the end with reaching tea house. The burble of river and its cold breeze will refresh you.

Day 47: Drive back to Kathmandu

After having breakfast you will drive back to Kathmandu leaving manaslu region, Gorkha district beside you. The achievement you gain after expedition is great that will always remain with your identity.

Day 48: Rest Day at Kathmandu

On this last day you can do shopping, visit Thamel, taste famous food of Nepal and take rest. In the evening you will have dinner with company members in cultural restaurant.  

Day 49: Final Departure

Depending on time of flight, our company member will leave you to Tribhuvan international airport, Kathamandu.

In this way Manaslu Expedition completes within 49 days.

How technical is Manaslu expedition?

In short, the Manaslu expedition is technical and challenging. Among all the eight-thousanders of the world, Manaslu is listed as the eighth highest peak in the world. Even the height of eight cliffs, crevices, and snow level makes it more complicated than Cho Oyu (8, 188m), and Shisapangma (8,027).

Is Everest seen from Manaslu circuit?

No, Everest is not seen from the Manaslu circuit. You can only view the Annapurna ranges, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna, Annapurna south, Mardi Himal, and Ganesh Himal along with the fantastic landscape, and cultural beauty of the Manaslu region.

Can you climb Manaslu?
