Among the three passes, you will visit Renjo la pass first. You will climb Gokyo Re, (Gokyo peak), the second destination on the 10th day after having a night stay on Gokyo lake. Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft.)

The first day is the arrival day. You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our company member will come to welcome and drop you at hotel.
In the evening, you will have a welcome dinner with company members and meet your guide.
Night stay in Hotel.

Day 2
Kathmandu Valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft.)

After having breakfast, you will meet the guide and start Kathmandu valley sightseeing. You will visit Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath, Shyambunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Thamel.
Everest Three passes trek is in very high altitude thus you should do proper preparation for trek. Buy all essential required for the trek which you have not brought with you.

Day 3
Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) & trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft), 3-4 hrs walk

You have to wake up very early in the morning and reach the airport on time for the Lukla flight. After 30 min of mountain flight, enjoying the scenic beauty of the central Himalayas you will land at Lukla airport with your guide, porter and group if you are in a group trek.
After having breakfast nearby Lukla airport, our trek begins towards Pakhding. Pakhding is in Low altitude (2652m) than Lukla (2800m), thus we have to walk downhill. Following the trail on the bank of Dudhkoshi, passing mani walls and chorten, crossing suspension bridges, we will reach Pakhding.
Pakhding is a small village on the bank of Dudhkoshi, having more tea houses than local homes. You will get a good facility in Psakhding.

Day 4
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Today we will proceed to Namche bazaar. As soon as we finish our breakfast we will start our walk. The bank of Dudh Koshi leaves us as we start uphill towards Manjo village.
Manjo village is in Sagarmatha national park, your guide will take the permit from the checkpoint and the trial continue towards Namche.
Crossing Hillary suspension bridge (the bridge of highest altitude), you will walk on a pine trail, stone-paved path, enjoying the forest beauty enveloped by a peaceful environment, finally reach Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is a unique town having almost all the facilities of a well-developed city. It is also common as Thamel of the Khumbu region. We will choose one of the best tea houses and have a rest.

Day 5
Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

Today is a rest day. To acclimatize your body, we will stay in Namche. Visit Everest at view hotel and Namche Bazzar If you want, otherwise we will take complete rest to overcome the tiredness of the previous day’s trek.

Day 6
Namche Bazzar to Thame, (3800m), 3 to 4 hours

After having breakfast, we will start walking off beaten trail towards the west of Namche Bazaar. Today’s destination Thame is a large valley at 3800m named after a Thame Gompa on its western hill.
Fluttering prayers flag, mani walls decorated on the edge of the path, Chorten, and beautiful pine trial will entertain you.
Viewing Namche gompa, Laudo gompa, and forest nursery, you will pass Thamo village and Khari monastery. After leaving Rock cliffs with Guru Rimpoche and green tara painting behind, you will reach Thame.

Day 7
Trek from Thame to Marlung, (4137m), 4 to 5 hours

Our trek begins after breakfast. Following the uphill of the traditional route used by Tibetan traders since centuries, we will reach Marlung after 4 to 5 hours.
Marlung is located on the east riverbank of Bhote Koshi. The flowing river and rocky trail with mani walls and Chorten reflect peace along with Buddhist culture.

Day 8
Trek from Marlung to Lungdeng (4600m), 3 to 4 hours

Even though we are in the Khumbu region, today’s trial is an easy trail. We will walk on the bank of Bhote Koshi without any difficult uphills. The snowcapped Shar, Nupla, Thyagmoche, Nup, and Lho peaks show their smile as we walk for about 2.5 hours.
The clean flowing water on the east flows downward and we keep on moving opposite to its motion and reach Lungdeng after 3-4 hours.

Day 9
Trek from Lungdeng to Renjo- La (17,929ft / 5465m) to Gokyo Lake (4800m)

Day by day we will be ascended to the highest altitude. Trek to Renjo – La (5465m), one of the three passes starts after breakfast in Lungdeng.
Renjo – La pass trial begins from the bank of Dudhkoshi. We will reach Lumde after an hour, ascend the narrow valley surrounded by smooth large rocks. Viewing Relam Tsho and Renjo Tsho, we will ascend the snowy path which is bit dangerous than non – snowy trial. After then we will walk to the south bank of Angladumba Tsho, stone paved path and reach Renjo – La pass.
The view of Mt Cho-Oyu, Mt.Gyachung Kang, Mt Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Makulu from Renjo – La pass is admiring. We will also view Ngozumba glacier, the world’s largest glacier. The pass connects Gokyo Lake, thus we will descend to the lake after spending few time on Renjo la pass.

Day 10
Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,330m/ 17,483ft) and Explore Gokyo Lakes in the evening, 5 hrs

To view the sunrise from Gokyo Ri (Gokyo Peak), we will wake very early in the morning and ascend uphill to Gokyo Ri. After around 2 – 2.5 hours we will reach the summit of Gokyo Ri and wait for the sunrise view. Take photographs, enjoy the view of Mt Everest, and return to Gokyo Lake.
After having lunch, we will take a rest for 1, 2 hours. and we will explore Gokyo Lakes (lake 1st, Gokyo 2nd and Gokyo 3rd) which takes around 1 -2 hours. The scenery of the lake surrounded by snowy mountains in a clean and fresh environment will make our day wonderful.

Day 11
Trek from Gokyo lake to Thaknak (4750m/15580ft), 6-7 hrs walk

From the second Gokyo lake, we will trek towards Thaknak. The close-up view of the Ngozumba glacier and snowy surroundings took us to our destination after around 4, 5 hours.

Day 12
Trek to Cho-la Pass (5367m/17604ft) to Dzongla (4,850m/15908ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Today we will explore to Cho – la Pass (5367m). The trial is most challenging and should be very careful on its steep, snowy path and eastern glacier transverse.
It is the difficult trial of the entire trek.
We will wake up early in the morning and start our trek before 6 am. We will ascend the rocky trial, and reach the highest point Cho – la Pass. The fluttering prayers flag on the snow-covered landscape cheers us the happiness of a successful attempt to Cho- La Pass. The view of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Cholatse soar, Lobuche and Baruntse around the pass add joy to us.
We will pass some crevasses and reach Dzongla for a night stay. The serene beauty of Ama Dablam, Lobuche peak and Pheriche village becomes clear from Dzongla as well.

Day 13
Trek from Dzongla to Gorakshep (5,160m/16,929ft), 5-6 hrs walk

As our trek start, we will pass a small glacial lake, Cholatse, Taboche and Glacier named Chola. Our trek continues towards Ama Dablam, walking different uphills and downhills, we will descend into the endpoint of Khumbu glacier valley. Then ascend toward Gorekshep, following the morane path.
Mount Pumori and Nuptse become very close to us as the way decreases its length with our forwarding steps. Gorekshep is the last resting zone near Everest having a temperature below -10 degrees. We will take a rest, warm-up on glowing firewood or heater.

Day 14
Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,357m/17,575ft) and return to Lobuche for overnight. 6 to 7 hrs

We will have breakfast and ascend towards Everest Base camp, the final destination of the EBC trek. Finding yourself on the foot of Everest is a matter of joy and victory of your journey. Spending about an hour on Everest base camp we will return to Gorekshep.
After taking lunch in Gorekshep we will descend to Lobuche. Labuche is a small village, frequent wind and surrounded by high hills and snowcapped mountains.

Day 15
Lobuche–Kongma La (5,535m/18,159ft) – Chhukung (4,730m/15,518ft): 6-7 hrs

We will leave Labuche and pass the Khumbu glacier. As we walk forward, the view of Cholatse, Taboche, Kangtega, Thamserku, Kangri, Pumori, Lingtren, Labuche peak surrounds us. Following the rocky trial, stagnant glacier lakes in the middle of morane, Poklade hill we will finally reach Kongma La (5,535m) after around 4 hrs from Lobuche.
The decorated Kongma La with prayers flag welcomes us with a panoramic view of Cholaste peak, Lobuche peak, glacier hanging on the base of the mountain, Mt. Lhoste, Mt. Nuptse, Island peak, Mt Makalu, Baruntse, glacier lakes, Mt. Ama Dablam and Pokalde peak. After standing 5- 10 minutes on Kongma La, we will descend towards the glacial lake.
The lichen-covered rocks, the steep path over off beaten trail lead us to Chukung, on the lap of Island peak.

Day 16
Trek from Chhukung to Tyangboche (3,867m/12684ft), 4-5 hrs walk

After having breakfast in Chhukung we will start our trek towards Dingboche Passing Dingboche monastery, walking on the trail decorated with Rhododendron forest, players flag, mani walls, and chorten we will reach Pangboche. View of Mount Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Mt Cho Yu, Mt Lhotse, Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Taboche gives wonder scenery.
We will reach Tyangboche after around 4-5 hrs from Chhukung.

Day 17
Trek to Monjo ((2680M/8791ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Leaving Tyangboche (3,867m) after breakfast, we will walk downhill towards Dingboche. The clear view of Mount Everest, Lotshe, Lotshe Tshar, Amadoblam, Tabuche and many other peaks will definitely attract you.
We will pass Phungi Thanga, Sannasa and Kaynjuma village and reach Namche. After following the pine trial, Manjo village welcomes us.

Day 18
Trek to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), 6-7 hrs walk

Waking up early in the morning, we will have breakfast and start the trek. Walking downhills, crossing suspension bridges, enjoying the flow of Dudhkoshi, we will reach Pakhding.
From Pakhding we will again walk on the bank of Dudhkoshi, pass Chorten, Monasteries, and hide in the beauty of the Khumbu region before reaching Lukla.
Finally after 6, 7 hours we will be in the last trekking zone, Lukla while returning.

Day 19
Fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Depending on the time of flight, we will wake up early and fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla airport. The mountainous flight reminds our trek with a view of Everest.
From the Airport we will check into the Hotel via private taxi.

Day 20
Leisure at Kathmandu

After a long journey to the Everest region, your body may need some rest. Thus today you will take complete rest. In the evening you can visit Thamel Bazaar and do shopping as well if you want. You will have a farewell dinner with company members.

Departure from Kathmandu

By seeing the time of Departure, our company member will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport before 2 hours. He will remain with you until for see off.

What kind of food are available?

Nepali, western and Chinese food are available. You can choose food from menu of tea house. There will be enough option to get food of your choice.
Breakfast food items: tea, coffee, milk, hot lemon, bread (toasted), egg (boiled, omelet), fruits, porridge, pasta, curry (potato, gram), etc.
Lunch and items: Nepali thali (rice, dal, curry, pickle, pappad), pizza, sphaget, momo, chowmein, noodles, thukpa, pakoda etc
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included in package. You will be given menu to choose food items. In large group, option will be given from company.

Is sleeping bag necessary?

Yes, sleeping bag is necessary. If you could not bring sleeping bag, you can hire from Kathmandu as well. Since night remains very cold, you cannot sleep without sleeping bag in high altitude.

Is luxurious trek possible?

Yes, luxurious trek is possible. You should give pre information about the desire of luxurious trek. Keep in mind that luxurious trek would be bit expensive than normal one.

Can I charge my gadgets?

Yes, you can charge your gadgets. All tea houses gives facility of charging gadget in their dining hall not in bed room. You should pay extra for charging.

Is hot shower available?

Yes hot shower is available. You should pay extra for hot shower.

What to do to prevent altitude sickness?

Altitude sickness is major problem in high altitude.
To prevent altitude sickness you should follow tips such as:
1. Drink enough water and soup
2. Trek gradually with increasing elevation limit around 3000m a day. In doing so, your body will acclimatize. Blood plasma with be thicker and concentration of oxygen level will increase in body. You can be in comfort zone in less oxygenated environment as well.
3. Come back to low elevation, if you feel uncomfortable while breathing.

Can I continue to Island peak climbing from Everest three pass trek?

Yes, you can continue to Island peak climbing from Chhukung after returning from Kongma La pass. Your trekking days and payment will increase after diverting the trek towards Island peak climbing.

What happens if I could not continue the trek?

If you could not continue trek, we will hire helicopter to cover helitour and return back to Kathmandu.
If you don’t want Heli tour, you can do rest until you feel comfort and continue trek or return back. Change in itinery and more days rest will increase your expenses.

Yes, phone signal is available in low altitude but in high altitude, some places capture signal and some places do not. We suggest you to use duel sim including both of NTC and N- cell.

Yes you can customize the trek. You should have proper talk with company and skipping Kathmandu day tour and rest day in Kathmandu can be done. Other changes in itinery after reaching Everest region is not possible.

Visa

Simply you can take visa from Nepal Embassy. In absence of an Embassy near your location, you can take a visa from Tribhuvan International airport, Nepal. You need 21 days for completing Everest three pass trek, You should apply visa of 1 month. If you want more days to remain in Nepal then you can take a visa according to your planning.

Until you are in Kathmandu, we will provide you the best Hotel for a night stay. In trekking sites, good qualities tea houses with cleanroom are available. You can also do a luxurious trek upon your choice with pre-information. Above Namche, you will not get an attached bathroom in a tea house. Thus you should adjust with the available facility.

Food

You will get Nepali, western and Chinese food on menu. Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner will be provided from the package. You will be given a menu to choose your food. In case of a group trek, you will be given a few choices on food.

In general, breakfast item includes tea, coffee, milk, egg (boiled or omelet). Porridge, pasta, biscuits, bread (toasted). Curry, fruits, etc. In dinner and Lunch variety of food such as Nepali thali (Rice, lentil, curry, pickle and pappad) with addition as your choice, momo, chowmein, pizza, sphaghet, noodles, thukpa, etc. are available.

Drinks

Never think to take hard drinks during your trek. Hard drinks will increase altitude sickness and loss of your stamina to walk. Thus always take hot drinks such as tea, coffee, milk, hot lemon. You should drink enough water.

Transportation

Private taxi to check into Hotel – airport route, Kathmandu day tour. Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. You will walk on foot in your entire trekking zone.

Clothing

The  required cloths for Everest three pass trek

  • Warm jacket – down jacket,
  • Water and windproof jacket (alternatively bring a poncho or umbrella
  • Long-sleeved synthetic fleece (windproof material, if possible)
  • Thermal underwear.
  • Hat, a pair of gloves and a scarf
  • Comfortable hiking trousers (loose fitting)
  • Shorts and trousers, or a skirt.
  • 2 pairs of warm wool-blend socks.
  • 2 pairs of running socks or liner socks.
  • Proper hiking boots.
  • Running shoes and flip-flops.
  • 2-3 T-shirts.
  • Water bottle.

Charging gadgets

You can charge gadgets in each tea house during night stay. Charging is available only in the dining hall, not inside the bedroom. You should pay extra for charging.

Hot Shower

A hot shower is available but you should pay extra for it. Taking a regular shower may catch a cold due to extremely low climatic conditions.

Altitude Sickness

Everest three pass trek comprises very high altitudes. You may suffer from altitude sickness.

Altitude sickness is a kind of illness that is caused by ascent to high altitudes. The symptoms will occur within 6 to 24 hours of achieving a high altitude. Altitude sickness is fatal and can result in death if not treated in time. You need to stay alert to any of the symptoms that occur.

Symptoms

  • Headache
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Upset stomach
  • Feeling unsteady
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increased heart rate
  • Difficulty sleeping

An effective measure to recover from early AMS

If you happen to notice any of the symptoms, follow the guideline mentioned below-

  • Do not climb any higher for the next 48 hours
  • Descend to a lower altitude if possible
  • Take complete rest until you feel well
  • Do not exercise
  • Do not smoke
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take external oxygen supply if necessary
  • Take anti-sickness medicines

If you see no improvement in your health within 48 hours, you will have to be immediately deported to the city for medical support.

Preventive Measures

There is no way to train your body prior to trekking so as to adapt to the high altitude. Some ways in which you can prevent it are as follows:

  • Take plenty of rest
  • Ascend slowly and gradually as you reach higher
  • keep yourself hydrated
  • Eat high-calorie food
  • Do not smoke, drink or consume tranquilizing medicines

Insurance

During times of emergencies like acute altitude sickness or a natural calamity, you might have to be immediately deported in a helicopter. The cost of such deportation is covered by health insurance that needs to be purchased before you start the trek.
