Mount Everest is located in Nepal at 27.988121° N and 86.924975° E.  It is in the northern part of Nepal, bordered by Tibet, China. The highest peak in the world is a part of the Mahalangur range in the Central Himalayas, South Asia. It is known as 'Sagarmatha' in Nepal, 'Chomolungma' in Tibet, and 'Zhumulangma' in China, whereas 'Mount Everest' is its international name. 

The elevation of Everest was accepted as 8848 m above sea level after the Survey of India (1952–54). An Indian mathematician, Radhanath Sikdar, measured the height of Mount Everest in 1952 AD during that survey.  Presently, the new height of Mount Everest is 8848.86 m. The new height was declared in 2020 AD by the authorities of the Nepalese and Chinese governments after a combined survey.

The beauty of Everest can be explored from both Nepal and China. Geographically, the southern face of Mt. Everest can be explored from Nepal, whereas the northern part can be visualized from Tibet, China. The presence of Everest has played a significant role in introducing Nepal throughout the globe. Yearly, thousands of trekkers and climbers visit Nepal for the Everest base camp trek and the Mount Everest Expedition. The southern slope of Sagarmatha is easier for trekking and expeditions. Therefore, the southern part remains highly populated during trekking and expeditions.

The Mount Everest base camp is located both in Nepal and China. Everest base camp elevation is 5364 m above sea level in Nepal at its southern slope. Similarly, the base camp of Everest is 5150 m above sea level in Tibet on its northern slope. Both base camps are popular holiday destinations. 

EBC in Nepal lies in Solukhumbu district, Sagarmatha National Park, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The diverse vegetation and amazing mountains of the Mahalangur range are great to view from the EBC trekking route. It takes 14 days to complete the Everest base camp trek in Nepal. EBC is the destination for trekkers during the trek to base camp. Different trekking routes, like the Everest Three Passes Trek, Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek, Island Peak Climbing, etc., lead to Everest's base camp. 

Similarly, the Everest base camp in Tibet offers a 12-day trip, including 4 days of trekking to the base camp from Old Tingri. Trekkers can enjoy the amazing views of Lhasa, Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Gyantse, and Yamdrok Tso Lake before reaching base camp. We can extend the trekking from Everest Base Camp to Advanced Base Camp at an elevation of 6340 m.

Trekkers always want to know whether we can see Mount Everest from base camp or not. The truth is, no, we cannot see Everest clearly from a base camp in Nepal. We can see amazing views of Mount Everest from Khumjung, Tengboche, Dingboce, Lobuche, and Kalapather during the trek. If you cannot walk a long distance from Lukla to base camp, then an Everest helicopter tour is optional to view Mount Everest. 

While the clear view of Mount Everest is visible from the north base camp of Everest, we can reach base camp both through trekking and driving. After reaching base camp, the trekkers can continue to Advanced Base for the closest view of Mount Everest.  

How To Go Mount Everest?

Going to Mount Everest is really a challenging task. We cannot go to Mount Everest without climbing the highest peak. An Everest expedition is possible from both the Northern and Southern face. Even though the Southern face is more popular for expeditions. The climbers should be experienced and ready to face risk during the climb.

Mount Everest expeditions from the southern face take two months. Climbers should trek to the Everest base camp and prepare for the expedition. It takes 45 days to reach the Everest summit and return to base camp.

Mount Everest is the tallest peak in the world and borders two neighboring countries, Nepal and China. It is the pride of South Asia and the most representative mountain of Mahalangur range, central Himalayas. Both the southern and northern faces of Everest are popular for trekking and expeditions. The southern base camp is 214 m higher than the northern base camp. Trekking to Everest base camp is the best trekking in the world. You can enjoy forests, rivers, a national park, taller mountains, pasture and alpine vegetation, and rocky terrain on the southern slope. Similarly, the northern slope is a bit easier with transportation facilities to reach EBC. The mountain expedition begins after trekking to the base camp.
